“Adopt” a family this season!

 

Each year, our Adopt-a-Family campaign connects community members with families who need a little help at the end of the year. Will you join us in spreading joy this season?

We are asking for donations of gift cards to help families purchase needed household items and special gifts and treats. Together, we can make the holiday season that much brighter for the families in our community.

How can I get involved?

There are several ways you can help support families through our gift card drive:

  1. You or a group of friends, family members, or colleagues can sponsor one or more Way to Grow families. Our Coordinator can help you decide what size family to sponsor and will share details about your assigned family.
  2. Donate gift cards for Way to Grow to distribute to families. We welcome your donation of $75 gift cards, and you can be assured that your donation will be distributed to a family in need.
  3. Donate online and designate it for “Adopt a Family” and we’ll buy the gift card for you!
Note: Please no electronic gift cards—these are difficult to distribute and also for families to use. Thanks!

Where should I send the gift cards?

Please mail cards to our office:

Gift cards may also be dropped off in-person! Please call our office to schedule a drop off time.

Please indicate the gift card amount on each card and enclose a gift receipt when possible. Please also include your contact information—we would love to send you a thank you note!

How many gift cards and how much?

Whether you purchase one gift card (or multiple), we ask that you please plan on spending $75 per family member.

Where should I shop?

We suggest purchasing gift cards from stores that families can easily access either online or in person, with a variety of merchandise to choose from. Please consider purchasing from one of the following stores:

  • Target Registry (click to order gift cards to mail directly to our office)
  • Walmart
  • Best Buy (great for families with teens)
  • Kohl’s (affordable clothing and housewares)
  • Cub Foods or Aldi (grocery cards for a special holiday meal)
  • Marshall’s or JCPenney (clothing for the whole family)
  • Visa gift cards (allows families to buy from their favorite stores)

What is the deadline?

Due to busy holiday mail, we ask that cards arrive in our office by Friday, December 8th to allow time for families to purchase items before the holidays.

Can I enclose a note?

Absolutely! Feel free to enclose a card or note sharing words of hope and wishes for the New Year, and we will make sure to include it in the package we forward to your Adopt-a-Family.
