Gifts to Grow

Gifts to Grow is a campaign created to connect community members with families who need a little help throughout the year. Will you join us in spreading joy to Way to Grow families?

We are collecting monetary donations, gift cards, and new and unwrapped gifts. Way to Grow Family Educators will then distribute the gift cards and gifts to families in our program who need an extra helping hand.

Together, we can make every day a little brighter for the families in our community.

How can I participate?

  • Donate to Gifts to Grow online, and we’ll buy the gift card for you!
  • Donate physical gift cards
  • Purchase a new gift that will be delivered directly to one of our families

    How can I direct my donation to the Gifts to Grow campaign?

    Online Donations:

    • You can donate online by clicking here or using the giving module below. We suggest a gift with a minimum value of $50.00.
    • Funds designated to “Gifts to Grow” will be used to purchase gift cards for families currently registered in the Way to Grow program.

    Will you gift cash directly to Way to Grow families?

    No, we will not be giving gifts in the form of cash. We will use any monetary donations designated to the Gifts to Grow campaign to purchase gift cards that will be distributed to families enrolled in the Way to Grow program.

    How many gift cards and how much?

    Whether you purchase one gift card (or multiple), we suggest a minimum gift card value of $50.00.

    Where should I shop?

    We suggest purchasing gift cards from stores that families can easily access either online or in person, with a variety of merchandise to choose from. Please consider purchasing from one of the following stores:

    • Aldi
    • Amazon
    • Cub Foods
    • JCPenney
    • Kohl’s
    • Marshall’s
    • Target
    • Visa gift cards
    • Walmart

    Note: Please no electronic gift cards—these are difficult to distribute and cumbersome for families to use. Thanks!

    Can I enclose a note?

    Absolutely! Feel free to enclose a card or note sharing words of hope and wishes for the New Year.

    • Indicate the gift card amount on each card and enclose a gift receipt when possible.
    • Please also include your contact information – we would love to send you a thank you note!

    Can I drop off the gift cards?

    Gift cards may also be dropped off in person! Please call our office at 612-874-4740 to schedule a drop-off time.

    What kinds of gifts would be suitable?

    We are not collecting specific gift requests from families, but we have created a several wish lists on Amazon for inspiration. If you choose to purchase an item from a Way to Grow wish list it will be sent directly to our main office in Minneapolis, MN.

    Some gift ideas include:

    Note: We serve families of all ethnicities, cultures, and religious denominations. We respectfully ask that you not purchase any religious gifts or books. We will not accept any gifts that mimic weaponry such as guns or swords. All gifts must be new and in original packaging. Thanks!

    Where should I shop?

    We do not have a partnership with any retailer, you can shop at the store of your choice!

    If you would like inspiration, you can look at our curated Amazon Wishlists but you are not required to purchase gifts from Amazon.

    I would like to send a gift of clothing; how do I know what size to purchase?

    Whether you would like to purchase clothing essentials or seasonal outerwear for children or adults we are always in need of a variety of sizes for our moms, dads, and children.

    Should I wrap the gift?

    Gifts must come unwrapped so our Family Educators can determine who will receive the physical gifts.

    Can I enclose a note?
